Our Factory

The digitalization of our product enables improved value chains, which makes 100 % traceability possible. The automatization combiend with experienced colleagues in the factory allows us to achieve a high degree of databased management and quality assurance in the manufacturing process. At Extrudr, we value highly standardized processes to ensure the safety of our colleagues and the quality of our products. For this reason, we follow the international ISO standards in the production process, which serve the product-specific quality assurance.

 

Production process step-by-step

1. Preparation

1. Preparation

We work according to the latest standards in drying technology and thus ensure the greatest precision in the production process. This first and essential step leads to more accuracy in processing.

2. Feeding

2. Feeding

The feeding system is a closed circuit to prevent humidity and foreign particles. Due to this, the dried pellets are transported via vacuum, during which the material must not be exposed to high humidity.

3. Extrusion

3. Extrusion

The extruders are the heart of our factory. We have designed and built them according to the latest standards in technology. This is where the melting process and homogenization of the pellets takes place to form the filament.

4. Homogenization

4. Homogenization

The static mixers blend the components (resin, additives and colors) into a homogenous mass. We use 7 static mixers to ensure homogeneous distribution in the product.

5. Filtering process

5. Filtering process

In this stage, dirt and foreign matter are removed in our filtering process. We use three sieves with holes smaller than 0.005 mm. Two different types of sieves allow us that no contamination takes place during the screening. This step is essential to ensure the quality of our products.

6. Cooling down

6. Cooling down

In the cooling process the technical monofilament is calibrated to an appropriate diameter near the glass transition temperature and brought to a solid state. A crucial process step for low tolerance & high roundness.

7. Laser Measurement

7. Laser Measurement

The whole manufacturing process is computer controlled to make sure the diamenter of every filament is accurate. We have three sensors to measure and evaluate the diamenter and roundess of each filament.

8. Winding

8. Winding

The last step ends with the winding station. Accurate winding takes place directly in the warm state, with the correct weight and under constant tension. This extra effort enables us to guarantee the shape of the filament and prevents unsystematic winding.

9. Quality control

Our team in the factory additionally performs visual checks, considering the diameter, roundness, consistency and color of the filaments. The filament is then marked with the product-specific label. A desiccant bag guarantees corrosion and moisture protection during the professional storage of the filaments.

10. Vacuum sealing

Once the finished product is packed airtight, we place the spool in a user-friendly box, ready for shipping.

11. Shipping

11. Shipping

In the final step the labeled boxes are packed in cardboard packaging to ensure the highest protection during transport. Now our products are ready for shipment to all our customers!
